A trip through the heart of Scotland
Day 1
Leave Dundee and a short Drive up north to Blairgowrie were you can spend the night, have a few drinks with the locals,Blaigowrie is famed for its abundance of raspberry fields overlooked by rolling hills and is also home to the country's largest ski resort, Glenshee.
Day 2
Head up to Pitlochry, a very popular holiday resort set in a Victorian town in the Perthshire Highlands, A visit to the Pitlochry dam and the salmon ladder, watch the fish trying to jump the dam is a sight worth seeing. Pitlochry has great walking trails through the forests that are well sign posted and are also designed for mountain biking. A visit to discover the secrets of Malt Whisky making in Blair Atholl. Scotland is full of distilleries that you can visit,join in the tours for the wee sample at the end, you will see many of them on your travels.
Day 3
After a night in Pitlochry another wee drive heading north up to Aviemore. Aviemore has something for everyone, from water sports to hill walking and of coarse skiing in the winter. Aviemore is set in the heart of the Cairngorms national park with beauty all around, you can see why it is so popular with the young and also the young at heart.
Day 4
Carrying up north again to Inverness. Plenty to see and do hear, Inverness is known as the capital of the Highlands which is easy to see why after a wee visit. Shopping here is great for the ladies, plenty of high street shops and also many small privately owned shops with bargains for everyone. This is were you can find the famous battle fields, The Battle of Culloden on Culloden moor not far from the town centre. Also in Inverness you can take a trip out on many of the tour boats to see the dolphins, and of coarse, not forgetting Nessie, A trip to Inverness would not be complete without spending the night on the banks of Loch Ness to do some monster spotting.
Day 5
After a peaceful night by the banks of Loch Ness head south to Perth also known as the Fair City set on the banks of the Silvery Tay. Perth is home to some fine art galleries, the oldest established repertory theatre in Scotland. Perth has also been given the best quality of life in Britain award. A few miles north of the city lies Scone Palace a beautifull place to visit , or why not try an afternoon at the races at Scone national hunt racecoarse.
Day 6
Driving south again, Stirling has plenty to see and do. The Town is built around the castle which is built upon an ancient volcanic plug. Stirling is also known as having the most haunted places in Scotland, like the green lady of the castle who has been seen by many soldiers, also a few pubs in the town that are known to be haunted such as the Settle Inn near the castle, The Golden Lion and the Albion Bar are also favourite haunts for ghosts. The Wallace monument can be seen from miles around set upon the Abbey Craig the monument stands 220 ft tall.The Trossacs national park can be found here which is home to the Blair Drummond safari park .Then on to Falkirk to see the only revolving boat lifter in the world, known as the falkirk wheel then onto Edinburgh.
Day 7
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland with its winding medieval back streets and stunning Victorian and Georgian architecture, it is easy to see why Edinburgh is listed as a world heritage site. Edinburgh has been voted the most desired place in Europe to visit for many years and also known as the most desirable place in the world to live, with such sights as Edinburgh Castle set atop an extinct volcano overlooking the city and beyond its easy to see why travellers visit Edinburgh when the come to Scotland, however you need more than a day to explore Edinburgh.
Day 8
A 1 hour drive should get you back to Dundee, or carry on for another week to see more of what Scotland has to offer.

North Trip
Day 1
Leave Dundee for Aberdeen taking the coastal route to Arbroath, a nice open road to get used to the controls. Take a nice walk around the Arbroath Harbour and taste some fresh smokies, then following the coast road on to Montrose and Stonehaven taking in the beautiful scenery of the coastline then spend the night in Aberdeen.
Day 2
Spend the day in and around Aberdeen, the Granite City. Take a walk down the cobbled streets and narrow lanes to look at the medievil buldings beside the river Don which remains a peaceful encalve within the modern city.
Day 3
Leave Aberdeen and head around the coast for Elgin passing through towns like Peterhead and Banff before reaching Elgin to visit Elgin Cathedral which dates back to the 13th century then on to Inverness to spend the night.
Day 4
Spend the day in inverness seeing ancient architecture such as Inverness Castle, Culloden Battlefield also a visit to the lock at Caledonian canal is a must.
Day 5
Leave Inverness for a beautiful scenic drive north to John 'O' Groats, the most northerly tip of mainland Scotland. Following the road around the coast to the beautiful Ullapool the picturesque fishing village that nestles on the shores of Loch Bloom.
Day 6
After a nice peacful night in Ullapool head down through Inverness to Loch Ness with a visit to Urquart Castle and the Loch Ness visitor Centre where you can find information about the mythical monster of the loch. Driving down through fort William and Glen Coe for a night in Oban.
Day 7
Oban is a very busy port with ferries running to the islands of Mull, Collinsey, Barra and Uist. a visit to the MacCaigs tower (folly) overlooking Oban is a must then a trip to the distillary in the town centre or a trip on the ferry to Mull for Tobermory. You can also visit the Monks Abbey before driving to Creiff to spend the night.
Day 8
A leisurely drive through Perth and back to Dundee or carry on to Edinburgh for the south tour.

South Trip
Day 1
Leave Dundee for Edinburgh taking the coastal route to St.Andrews the home of golf and ancient ruins. A visit to St Andrews Cathedral is a must for the budding tourist then on to Edinburgh, Scotlands capital to spend the night.
Day 2
Edinburgh has such special sights as Edinburgh Castle, Hollyrood House, the Scott Monument, Grayfriars Bobby and the parliament buildings.
Day 3
Spend anouther day taking in the sights of Edinburgh and then some shopping before moving on to Berwick upon Tweed to spend the night.
Day 4
Berwick upon Tweed offers a piece of England and Scotland as it lies on the border. It has been under Scotland 6 times and England 7 times. A leisurely drive across the border to Gretna Green.
Day 5
Gretna Green is famouse for young couples running off to get married over the anvil which is a large tourist attraction although people do still get married there. Driving on to Girvin to visit the home of the famous Scotts poet Robert burns, then on to Ayrshire for the night.
Day 6
A wee visit to the Isle of Arran or head onto Glasgow. Sights in Glasgow to see are Glasgow Cathedral built in 1136, the tall ship anchors in the harbour also the last sea going paddle steamer in the world, the Botanic Gardens also George Square, the main venue for the Hogmany party, or you can visit Kelvingrove art gallery and museum with a stay overnight in Glasgow.
Day 7
Heading on to Creiff going through Falkirk to see the Falkirk Wheel, an amazing piece of engineering to lower and raise the canal boats into the viaduct. Going on to Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument and the Trossacs and then on to Loch Lomond the largest freshwater lake in the UK stretching some 24 miles in length.
Day 8
After a nice sleep in Crieff you can enjoy a lovely drive thourgh Perth back to Dundee or carry on to Aberdeen for week 2.
